Your Voice, Your Influence

Graduate life at UNBC can sometimes feel isolating. Long hours in labs, the pressure of deadlines, teaching responsibilities, and personal commitments can make it feel as though our voices are small and disconnected. While your knowledge of methods, theories, and formulas is invaluable, success after graduation often depends just as much on the networks you build and the communities you engage with.

That’s where NBCGSS comes in. We exist to break that isolation and amplify the collective voice of graduate students. Whether you’ve relaxed in the Grad Lounge, joined Student Week activities, or taken part in events like rafting trips or the Semi-Formal, you’ve already seen how community brings us together. But beyond these moments of fun, NBCGSS is also where advocacy and decision-making happen. It’s your chance to shape priorities, direct student fees, and strengthen graduate life at UNBC.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is at the heart of this work. At the AGM, graduate students set priorities, approve budgets, elect representatives, and hold leadership accountable. It’s not just another meeting; it’s where your voice can directly shape the future of NBCGSS and graduate advocacy at UNBC. By attending or even standing for election, you ensure that decisions reflect the concerns and aspirations of our diverse graduate community.

Involvement doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year, NBCGSS continues to lead campaigns, host events, and connect students with opportunities. As members of the British Columbia Federation of Students (BCFS), we are part of a provincial network that advocates for affordable education, mental health supports, and open educational resources.

Together, we are stronger, and your participation is what makes that strength real.
