Anthropology in Our Backyards – Lemurs of Madagascar: A story of conservation at the intersection of land, people, and endemic biodiversity

We are excited to partner with the University of Northern British Columbia Department of Anthropology to host their Anthropology in Our Backyards series at The Exploration Place.

Lemurs are among the most endangered mammals on Earth. Addressing this crisis requires identifying which species are most at risk and creating conservation strategies that also support Madagascar’s communities. In this talk, Fernando Mercado Malabet, UNBC Postdoctoral Fellow, presents a case study of the population ecology of Eulemur fulvus and E. mongoz, and explores how community-based strategies can help safeguard the future of these and other lemurs.

This free public talk is open to everyone. Cash bar available.
