Plaid Friday
This November 28, Downtown Prince George invites everyone to take part in Plaid Friday — the local alternative to Black Friday that encourages people to support small, independent businesses while celebrating community pride and creativity.
Between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., watch for the Plaid Patrol roaming downtown! Shoppers spotted wearing plaid or supporting local businesses could be rewarded with Plaid Bucks — fun local shopping dollars that can be spent at participating downtown businesses.
This year, there’s even more reason to shop local: Plaid Bucks will be valid for two days — November 28 and 29 — giving you extra time to explore and support the amazing shops, cafés, and restaurants that make Downtown Prince George unique.
Can’t make it downtown before 6:00 pm? Stop by the Downtown Prince George booth at the Civic Light Up on November 28 from 4:30 to 8:00 pm to pick up your Plaid Bucks — perfect to spend when you shop local on Saturday, November 29.
“Plaid Friday is our version of Black Friday, but with a Prince George twist,” says Chrisie Berry, Executive Director for Downtown Prince George. “We swap the rush for community, the crowds for connection, and turn supporting local into something joyful. It’s about highlighting local entrepreneurs, spreading holiday cheer, and keeping the heart of our city thriving.”
So grab your coziest plaid, head downtown, and kick off the holiday season by shopping local this Plaid Friday in Downtown Prince George!
