Enjoy Your Coffee

Have you already had your cup of coffee today? Or maybe you can’t look at coffee after drinking it so much to power through the exams? Or perhaps you are enjoying your double-double as you are reading this article on your way to classes? In any case, you are not alone, as coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Millions of people around the globe drink coffee every day, and many of us consume more than one cup a day. Today people can choose among a variety of coffee drinks such as cappuccino, latte, mochaccino, Americano, flat white and many others. Thus, almost everyone can find a type of coffee that they will find delicious. So, let’s get to know a little more about the favourite drink of millions of people.

What makes coffee so attractive to consumers? Some enjoy its rich aroma and flavour, while others highly appreciate its stimulating properties. The popularity of coffee influenced a lot of scientists to conclude research about how it can affect human health. Unfortunately, one belief that is still common today is that drinking coffee is bad for human health. But is it actually as bad as some people think? You might be surprised or even happy to find that science suggests coffee can be a part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation. Moreover, some sources indicate that drinking coffee can have multiple beneficial effects on an individual’s health.

Coffee consists of thousands of different compounds, but people are mostly interested in the one named caffeine. Caffeine belongs to alkaloids, and it is often considered the most popular psychoactive drug; although, its effects are not as strong as cocaine or other psychoactive drugs. An interesting fact is caffeine is one the most popular widely acceptable drug that is legal around the world. While some people like caffeine because of the alertness and increase of energy it gives to our bodies, others avoid it for this exact reason. Many athletes and people who like intense workouts have a cup of coffee before their workout. This practice totally makes sense as scientists affirm that caffeine positively impacts endurance, particularly in high-intensity

Antioxidants contained in coffee are another reason why some people appreciate it. However, not many people are aware of the fact that coffee contains many antioxidants beneficial to our health. The most prevalent antioxidant compound in coffee is chlorogenic According to medical research, chlorogenic acid has antibacterial and anticarcinogenic properties. It also may help protect you against cardiovascular disease and lower blood sugar. Chlorogenic acid is only of multiple beneficial antioxidants in coffee that can promote human health.

From time to time, you can hear people saying that drinking too much coffee can result in caffeine overdose and death. Even though it is possible, in real life, you are more likely to pee your pants than overdose on caffeine from drinking coffee. And here is why: according to the FDA, a lethal dose of caffeine is 10-12 grams, which should be consumed over a brief period of . It might sound like 10 grams is not a lot, but an average coffee drink contains approximately 200-300 milligrams of caffeine. Thus, you will need to drink about 30 cups of coffee in a short period of time. Although FDA suggests that consuming 400 mg of caffeine in a day is unhealthy for adults. I hope all of you will take this information carefully and won’t try to test it on yourself! Also, while the risk of caffeine overdose from drinking coffee is low, it is much higher when using powders or pills. Therefore don’t exceed the suggested amount of caffeine pills! So, my verdict is that if you like coffee, drink it guilt-free. Just try not to drink more than 2-3 cups a day.
